Selah 70’s

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:48 pm

Hi everyone!

Just in case you didn’t see it in the newsletter or on Facebook, or in case you need a reminder:

Check out www.selah70s.com!

Here’s what it says on the front page (if you skim, make sure to read the last paragraph):

“Emerging from the tumultuous social changes of the ‘60s, a new genre of musical/spiritual expression known as Jesus Music came into its own during the early 70s. The impact that the Jesus Music revolution had on Christian music reverberates into the new millennium. In 1973 a handful of musicians at Ohio’s Cedarville University caught the Jesus Music passion and formed a band called Selah. What began as a short-term summer ministry in 1974 became a five-year touring, recording, and ministry adventure sharing Christ in venues ranging from coffee houses to churches to massive outdoor Jesus festivals.

From 1974 to 1975 Selah released two albums with Zondervan. During the band’s last three years of ministry, several recording sessions produced songs from the band’s repertoire that were never released to the public. In 1979 the group members amiably moved on to their own individual lives, and the long-anticipated but unfinished “third album” drifted into the past. The tapes from those sessions were recently rediscovered, remastered, and are now preserved on the Selah 70s: The Lost Sessions 30th Anniversary Limited Edition CD. The Lost Sessions feature eleven original songs including the first recording of the song Fat Baby, later recorded by Amy Grant for her Grammy award-winning album, Age to Age.

This limited edition CD is not for sale at this time. But it is our gift to you when you send a donation of $20 or more to help Ukrainian orphans through Last Bell Ministries, founded by the family and friends of Selah keyboardist Steve Millikan. Please consider giving as much as you can whether it’s $20…$100…$250 or more if you’re able. Every dollar will be used to change a life.”

We’re really grateful for the people who’ve been working to put this CD together, and grateful that it’s being offered as a gift for donating to Last Bell.

And you know we have to say it - They make great Christmas gifts!

Also, don’t forget, tomorrow is the last chance to join us for coffee and dessert and hear from Andre and the others about the ministry. Time: 7 PM. Place: South Harbour Clubhouse in Noblesville, IN - email us if you have questions. Check out the link at the bottom of the home page for more info.

I still don’t listen to much but the CD will fit in my office (still at Cedarville) and serve as another reminder of how God is using our alums/friends in so many ways

It was good to catch the blog
